When the wave does not come to you, you must go to the wave.
This sounds like some kind of surfer mantra, right? Well, I just made it up.
This fits perfectly with the story of professional surfer Rob Kelly and how he spotted waves in an unlikely place-next to a ferry that carried passengers and vehicles for the Cape May Lewis Ferry.
If you don't know, Kelly spent the weekend in Ocean City as a child and has been surfing all over the world.
Kelly has a YouTube channel-NumbSkulls-which has a lot of videos about him surfing the coast of New Jersey, etc.
Last Friday, while surfing in the area, Kelly decided to take a boat on the Cape May Ferry. He drove down, jumped into the water, and surfed in the wake of the ferry for a few minutes.
(Hey, Rob! Do you need a special ticket for the Cape May Lewis Ferry?)
This is a video of Rob's adventure that day. If you don’t want to watch the entire video, you can skip to the 5:30 mark, where he joins the ferry from Cape May.
Maybe the ferry captain can speed up a little next time?
This is another video from Kelly on Boracay earlier this year:
Hey Rob-when is my class?
